Licensure examinations are typically offered by governmental organizations for the purpose of regulating a specific profession or occupation. The purpose of licensure is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the consumer public – not the profession.
On the other hand, entrance examinations are examinations that educational institutions conduct to select prospective students for admission. It may be held at any stage of education, from primary to tertiary, even though it is typically held at tertiary stage.
